What is an Affirmation?

“Affirm” by definition means to “State as a fact”. What you affirm is what you believe to be true. Every situation that you come into contact with is absorbed into your subconscious thinking. Whether you believe it or not, every single time someone said something mean to you, it got put into your subconscious mind. Thus, creating limiting beliefs & self sabotaging thoughts. Things people said to you when you were 5,6, 7 years old are still stored in your subconscious mind. Affirmations help reprogram your subconscious mind so that you can achieve anything. An affirmation is a positive saying that you repeat & say out loud to change your thinking. They allow you to take control of your emotions, so they cannot control you. Affirmations challenge negative thoughts.  You can choose how you feel. While going to Soul Cycle is exercise for your body, affirmations are exercise for your mind and entire outlook on life. Repeatedly saying these statements out loud can change your thought patterns. Our thoughts depict our actions, so overtime you will act differently and begin attracting more opportunities into your life. You can use these affirmations in any area of your life that you want to see a change. I start my day with gratitude affirmations everyday to begin my day in a positive mindset so that I can take on everything that comes my way. Some tips for affirmations are: word affirmations in the present tense, word them positively, and say them to yourself over and over throughout the day. Write them on post it notes and put them all over your house as a reminder.
